BIO

A true veteran of all things GMAT, Jamie has over fifteen years of experience teaching the GMAT to thousands of students. Past roles include training new GMAT instructors for Manhattan Prep, supervising over twenty GMAT teachers as an Instructor Manager, and serving as a moderator on Manhattan Prep’s GMAT forums.

Her teaching career was first launched in Kimball, Nebraska, where as a senior in high school, Jamie coached a junior high Mathcounts team to a first-place finish in the regional competition. In 1991, while attending Rice University, she joined another test preparation company and began teaching and tutoring the SAT. After graduating from Rice, she enrolled at the University of Florida and completed all requirements but the dissertation for a Ph.D. in counseling psychology. At Florida, she continued with her teaching career, adding the GMAT, GRE, and LSAT to her instructional repertoire. She wrote portions of the national curriculum for these tests and trained all new instructors in the north Florida region. Jamie then served as senior director of a small financial software company and took the GMAT upon its sale, scoring a 770 (after scoring several 800s back in the paper and pencil days of the GMAT!). She also has a GRE score of 167Q/170V.

Jamie considers teaching her favorite activity and derives great satisfaction from helping students master challenging material and attain their score goals. She feels incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to share in a student’s journey to an MBA and is proud to have had her former students accepted to Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, Booth, Kellogg, and Wharton, among many others. Jamie characterizes her teaching style as warm and supportive, and she enjoys highly customizing her instruction to meet the students’ individual needs and objectives.

Jamie lives with her husband and daughter in Katy, Texas, and enjoys reading and traveling. She particularly loves to take transatlantic cruises, largely because of all the onboard trivia competitions. Currently, she is a partner in four business ventures and has served as a president and vice-president for two different charity boards.
